Welcome Dr Martens

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I know some of my friends were caught in the storms and floods but hopefully it has all passed.

Sorry for my absence. I can use all the excuses under the sun but my new years resolutions this year will be posted soon and no doubt there will be one on here about posting more often.

So for those of you who are close friends or follow my Instagram you will know that I have been searching for the right pair of gold brogues for ages. When I saw my cousin in October wearing Dr Martens it dawned on me that they may do a metallic pair- and with no hesitation I searched their website.... on Christmas morning to my 'suprise' I opened my last present and there they were. I feel like a little piece inside of me is complete and I have acquired a number of shoes this past year but these bad boys have to be, by far, my favourite and most treasured....for now. I hope you all got spoilt too.
More present posts to come soon...promise. x

Black booties

Black pointed chelsea boots from ASOS/ Black Biker boots from Next2nowt

I love a good black boot. So versatile, and so good to wear in the winter. I wear them with everything, skinny jeans, mom jeans, dresses, skirts and while its bitterly cold outside they are the perfect thing to keep those tootsies warm (without compromising on style).

I love ASOS as an online retailer; for me there is nothing better than having hundreds of brands under your finger tip on one website, although this can sometimes cause problems for the debit card....

Next2nowt is a website I came across which sells high street brands for less, either items that have been out on display etc so its a great place to pick up things you have seen that have sold out etc. I got the Topshop biker boots for £30 and they were originally £95- real leather and I wear them almost everyday. Its definitely worth checking out!

I downloaded Polyvore ages ago and its been a while since I have used it. It's such a good way of sourcing clothes when you don't know where to get something from.

Coats are 'the thing' this season. We have seen every hue of pink, check, tartan and needless to say the more oversized the better. I am a total believer that in winter time the more coats or jackets you have the better; thats what people see. Talking of having too many coats and jackets, I am totally in love with Whistles camo parka and in that price range at £225 it seems like with a little hard work it could be possible....

Leopard print Lover

Photos taken on iPhone 4s

Printed camouflage dress from Topshop
Black patent brogues from New Look
Black cropped jumper from New look
Black mini hand bag from Dune

Unfortunately most of this outfit is what I like to call up-cycled ( posh way of saying they are mostly old or last season!). However, they are nicely updated by my new, warm, snuggly, Leopard print coat from Topshop. Lucky I got student discount as two weeks on and its now on sale (click the link above of you want one quick).

For those of you that know me well you know that I am a lover of Leopard print and when deciding between a black coat or this one it was a no brainer. To be honest I have worn it almost every day because it is so snuggly, and more like a 'coatigan' than a coat.

Promise more outfit updates soon.

Better late than never

Photos taken on my iPhone 4S

Sorry for my absense. Uni work has taken over my life as well as my part time job and I have not had a chance to upload anything. I thought I would upload something light hearted; these are just a few of the photos taken at my boyfriends rugby 'T' party, and my Housewarming/ Halloween party.
I have to admit I am not normally a massive fan of dressing up. But if the theme and time is right, I love it. My T Rex costume came from ebay, and I just used face paint in a slight rush to create the skeleton-esque design for Halloween. Excuse all the sultry stares while I was a skeleton, I just felt it would have looked strange if a dead person was smiling. As for the Tiger face paint which my boyfriend Tom is beautifully modelling, I am the proud painter!
I promise I will be blogging more often. Its a new years resolution that I am going to take up early.

Blast from the past

Top-Topshop
Trousers-Topshop
Sandals-Topshop
Necklace-Topshop
Purse-McQueen by Alexander McQueen

So this is what I wore probably at the end of August. It was outfit I put on purely for comfort for a quick trip to the super market to grab some picky bits. I really like the way it turned out-sometimes its the unplanned outfits that work best.
The trousers I have had for years- they are old topshop ones and I love the print on them. And yes, those are my rose gold sandals again. I literally lived in those bad boys all summer. So comfy, and how can you go wrong with rose gold?
Anyway. This is making me feel slightly depressed as I am sat writing here because I miss summer. This inbetweeny weather sucks.
On a lighter note-Happy Saturday! Until next time.

The weekend is almost here. The weeks are going by so quickly and I can't believe its nearly November already.
I have a busy weekend ahead, starting with work tonight, an early halloween party tomorrow and then visiting family on sunday so I thought that I would leave you with yet more inspiration.
They have been on my desktop for a while now and I figured it is about time I do something with them.
TGI friday! x

Leigh Viner

I guess I am feeling inspired. I am a month into my university course at LCF and getting back into drawing, researching, using a sewing machine more than once a month and generally doing something a little exciting is good.

I came across the work of Leigh Viner just over a year ago, maybe slightly longer. For me, my favourite thing to do is to draw, and drawing people is even better. I think thats why my love of clothes, fashion and shopping along with this has made me want to study fashion design ever since I can rememeber. I have vivid memories of being sat with my cousins at their dining room table designing dresses and drawing my own little stylised characters.

So anyway, besides the rambling, Leigh Viner has a way of capturing something so beautiful. The vivid colours and lines along with the soft shading and shadows makes her work turn from being super graphic into something much more softer. If she ever wanted to do a picture of me I most certainly wouldn't turn it down.

Follow her on instagram @leighviner and check out more of her work there, or alternatively her blog at www.leighviner-blog.com. You may just become as obsessed with her work as I am.
